My Message to District 7

As a DeKalb County resident for over 15 years, I have a sincere desire to help enrich the lives of DeKalb citizens and a deeper passion to give back to the community in which I live. To improve my neighborhood and the broader community, I have not backed down in challenging the establishment and presenting hard facts backed by research to bring about positive change. I’ve met with past and current DeKalb County CEOs, US Congress members and others in leadership to bring better policing, tougher home builder codes, and more efficient governing to the county.

My motivation for seeking office stems from the empowering leadership received from both parents as a child growing up in Southwest Atlanta. I grew up admiring how my father as Deputy Director of Health, Education and Welfare Southeast Region helped to improve the lives of people through his many leadership directives. He taught me to treat all people with respect saying how even the janitor could teach and inspire me to accomplish a greater good. My mother nurtured my humanity to love and protect all people regardless of their race, color or creed. Her background as an educator instilled the very work ethic I have today.

The many lessons taught to me during my matriculation at Morehouse College deepened my resolve to give something back to the community in which I reside. I have a proven 25-year track record in corporate America utilizing my MBA earned at Kennesaw State University. This has led to better understanding how to implement best practices in business development. DeKalb County needs someone like me who has demonstrated the ability to dig through analytics and statistics to create effective new plans. DeKalb is ready for REAL & RELIABLE REPRESENTATION. As your next District 7 DeKalb County Commissioner, John E. Tolbert Jr. will fight to:

  1. Lower Our Existing Crime Rates
  2. Improve Our Aging Infrastructure
  3. Attract New Businesses/Industries, promoting consistent job growth
  4. Work with the DeKalb Board of Education to Improve Test Scores
  5. Provide the Ethical Leadership required for the privilege to serve you
